Town by town
Billericay. One stop from Shenfield, where the Elizabeth line begins, and on the A129 to Brentwood. Homes range from period properties around the historic High Street to larger family houses on the edges of town, with Norsey Wood nature reserve close by.
Wickford and Rayleigh. Next along the Greater Anglia line towards Southend Victoria. Wickford is also where the Crouch Valley line branches off to Burnham-on-Crouch and Southminster.
Basildon. Built as a New Town after 1949, with c2c stations at Laindon, Basildon and Pitsea into London Fenchurch Street, and the A127 and A13 either side. Post-war houses sit alongside newer estates and older village roads.
Benfleet, Leigh-on-Sea and Southend. Consecutive c2c stops along the Thames Estuary, through Chalkwell and Westcliff to Southend, which became a city in 2022.
Grays, Stanford-le-Hope and South Ockendon. The Thurrock side of our area, on c2c and close to the A13 and the M25.
